I Think Henry's Green Cousin Is In The Attic.
It is time for another edition of 'Strange Things I Have Discovered In My Notebook'!

Here is a test to determine whether you are Derren Brown.

Poll #1422893 Oh, may as well make this interactive.
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 36

You put a plastic bag over your head. As a result, you:

die.
10 (27.8%)

look a bit silly.
20 (55.6%)

become ridiculously sexually attractive.
6 (16.7%)

This wasn't in my notebook, but as I'm making a poll anyway: you turn up at Hogwarts. Into which house are you sorted? (If you're not sure of which house you would end up in, just pick the one you'd like to end up in.)

Gryffindor
3 (8.3%)

Hufflepuff
5 (13.9%)

Ravenclaw
22 (61.1%)

Slytherin
6 (16.7%)

Optional mini-fic time! You have 255 characters in which to write about the adventures of a character of your choice in the wizarding world. Have fun.

Also, the phrase 'bedding hurdles' is written in this notebook with no context whatsoever. I have no idea what it means. Hurdles that double as bedding? Hurdles one must traverse when attempting to set up a bed? The act of bedding a hurdle?

I was discussing Derren Brown's potential Pokémon with [info]hippyjolteon after Enigma, because I was wondering what he would have were he an actual Pokémon owner, rather than a man to whom a Jigglypuff simply happened to have attached itself (my goodness, my personal canon for this man is odd). We eventually concluded that Derren Brown has an Eevee. Everyone expects it to evolve into an Espeon, but it ends up an Umbreon.

...and now I find myself wanting to pair him up with Ruby of Supernatural, purely on the grounds that they would have the same Pokémon.

These are very poor grounds. Both of them would just spend the entire time fighting for the psychological upper hand.

Actually, I'd really like to see some Derren Brown het. This is typical: I'll happily slash away most of the time, but give me a canonically gay 'character' and I immediately want to pair him up with the ladies. Why so contrary, Riona?

(Bela, of course, has a Persian.)

On a note unrelated to absolutely anything else in this entry: why has nobody yet created Hetalia-style personifications of the Avatar nations? Somebody needs to do that. Then they can come to Earth (er, somehow), and the Water Tribe can befriend Lithuania, because it would be cute. Germany, meanwhile, can do... something. I don't know. He just has to be present, because Germany is my favourite.

(England is probably my second favourite, but can I be sure whether that's because of his character in Hetalia or just because he's England? Is there a general tendency to prefer one's own country in Hetalia? I'd make a 'who's your favourite?' poll, but a) I have very few Hetalia fans on my flist, and b) so many characters.)

Germany can be very unnerved by the Fire Nation, er, Nation! Because you know she (the Fire Nation is a she, I have decided this) would feel horribly guilty about everything her people did and Germany would be uncomfortably sympathetic towards this. She totally gets along with Prussia and Hungary, though, and thinks Italy is adorable. Which other Avatar Nation would be female? There must be two, because I say so.

(I do not know if there is a general tendency to prefer one's own country in Hetalia, although a poll in the Japanese fandom evidently revealed that the most popular character there was Japan--with England in second and Germany in third, I believe. A similar poll in the [info]hetalia comm, on the other hand, came out pretty overwhelmingly with Prussia on top, and I do not think there are a lot of people who live in a country that does not really exist any more. America and England were almost tied for second, I think, and after that was Russia. So everyone likes England, actually! Because England is awesome.)

ETA: also I just read your poll fic and that is THE GREATEST THING EVER I believe it with all my soul.

I am oddly touched by the idea of the Fire Nation and Germany suffering historical guilt together.

For some reason, I can't imagine the Water Tribe not being female. Whenever I try to picture the personification of the Earth Kingdom, I just end up with Man-Toph from 'The Ember Island Players'. It is mildly alarming.

(EVERYONE LIVES IN PRUSSIA. PRUSSIA HAS TAKEN OVER THE ENTIRE WORLD BEHIND THE SCENES.)

...Merlin is a Gryffindor who wishes he was a Hufflepuff so he wouldn't have to share a room with Arthur. *cries* I don't even like Harry Potter! Why do you do this to me, riona?!

Also I am completely in favour of Avatar nation personifications. Someone should draw this, like, now. Also, does anyone else's image of the Fire Nation figure come out really androgynous? I'm actually not sure what gender he or she is in my mind.

Merlin and Arthur are totally both in Gryffindor, and a Merlin/Harry Potter crossover could be absolutely wonderful.

I think [info]futuresoon has succeeded in making the Fire Nation a woman for me. I don't know what she would have ended up as in my mind without that influence.

You know, if I could draw, I would so totally draw that. At the moment, though, I am le crap at drawing. But it is an excellent idea!

Also, Light Yagami in the Potterverse is a *terrifying* thought. I wish it hadn't crossed my mind.

As I have a one-track mind, I of course wrote TG/HP fic up there.

Hmm... James is clearly a Hufflepuff, IMO. For some reason, when I try to decide on Jezza, my brain is putting him in Slytherin? But I don't think he'd entirely fit there... Maybe Ravenclaw? And I have no idea about Hammond... *goes off to take a quiz IC to try and figure it out. BRB*

Hammond MUST be a Gryffindor because he likes racing Bugatti Veyrons against RAF fighter jets and speeding Lambourginis down empty Arabian motorways. No one but a Gryffindor would be that manic, and a Slytherin certainly wouldn't name a car Oliver and actually bring it home from Africa. I vote Gryff. XD

I firmly believe that Hammond is a Gryffindor (I will not be swayed on this one) and Jeremy is a Hufflepuff. James could go into Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, I think.

AHA YOU ARE NOW IN THE WIZARDING WORLD.

Off to bed now, safe in the knowledge that I am not Derren Brown. Good to know!

edit: also, I would like to be in Ravenclaw, but as we discussed, I fear I would never be able to get into the common room (STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS, DOOR, I JUST WANT TO GO TO BED) and should probably be in Hufflepuff with the safety scissors and glitter (/Being Human).

I'll confess, I'm spectacularly undecided between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. Because on the one hand, I'm intellectual, geekish, and fond of big books. On the other hand, I want to have madly exciting sword-swinging adventures of glory and heroism. Possibly more Gryffindor, but not by much.

I am not Hermione Granger, by the way. My hair is unmanageable without potions, but my teeth are actually quite small. And if I were Hermione, I'd have slinked off to have bickery lesbian adventures with Luna Lovegood.

"Skepticism!"
"Faith!"
"Skepticism!"
"Faith!"
"Skepticism!"
"Look, a nargle!"
"...All right! But that doesn't mean you get smarter by sticking radishes to your head!"

And then there'd be kissing.

It is, perhaps, for the best that I'm not Hermione.

Also, how mad would a disastrously bad attempt at romance between Bella Swan and 'seventeen year-old' vampire Jeremy Clarkson with a beige Volvo? Because I think it would involve fire, explosions, and Jeremy running off with pretty much anyone else, possibly including a moderately insane Porsche-loving Richard Alice.

That would be both mad and utterly wonderful. I would love to see it. (For how long would Clarkson be able to restrain himself if he had the urge to eat her, though? My guess is 'eight seconds'.)

Regarding your pollfic: Hammond would make such a good Seeker.
